The South Bend Lathe:
South Bend Lathes have been manufactured for a Long Time since about 1908! These lathes beginnings came from twin brothers, John and Miles O'Brien, in South Bend Indiana. By 1919 their company South Bend Lathe Works was manufacturing 44 sizes of one style of lathes. By 1930, this company was building 47% of the lathes used in the USA!
Although major changes have occured since the beginning of this company, their product line includes their famous 10K and Heavy 10 lathes as well as a broad range of sizes of other lathes. The lathes available cover all size users up to the heavy industrial machine shops.
